Process to begin in April 2026

New Delhi – The Central Election Commission has announced a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in 22 States and Union Territories of the country. These include Maharashtra, Delhi and Karnataka. The process is likely to start from April. SIR has already started in 12 States of the country from October 28th2025. Under this, the voter lists are being updated. The names of new voters are being added and errors in the voter lists are being corrected.
Which States and UTs are included ?
The States of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Jharkhand, Odisha, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and the Union Territories of Chandigarh, Dadra Nagar Haveli Daman and Diu are included .
