Dispute over offering ‘Namaz’ leads to Hindus running away in Bareilly

Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) – On 17.02.2026, in Mohammadganj village, it was observed that in the house of Hasin Miya, an illegal madarasa was built and people were offering ‘Namaz’. Later, the Police took action  under section 151 against some of the people and charged them fine. Thereafter, on 14.02.2026 too, ‘Namaz’ was offered in the same house. Hindus informed the Police about it when action was action against them for disturbing peace. The matter was taken to the High Court. The people offering ‘Namaz’ have claimed that it was their fundamental and democratic right. The other side has accused that Muslims were putting pressure on Hindus and forcing Hindus to migrate to another place.

1. Police Inspector (PI) Satish  of Bisharatganj Police Station stated that both sides have been advised to be tolerant. He also clarified that nobody has left the village and the situation was peaceful. ‘Rashtriya Hindu Samaj’ and ‘Bajrang Dal’ had accused that Muslims were using a new technique and have converted a house into a madarasa; therefore, Hindus were disturbed.

2. Muslims claim that they have been offering ‘Namaz’ in this house for many years and earlier, there was no issue. Sarpanch Arif informed that the Court’s decision will be accepted.

No religious place in the village as per the agreement

As per the knowledge of the locals, an agreement was reached a few decades back that no temple or mosque will be built in the village; therefore, no new religious place was built so far and people have been performing religious rituals, ‘puja’ etc., and offering ‘Namaz’ in their homes.

Editorial Perspective

Despite Yogi Adityanath’s Government ruling in Uttar Pradesh, Muslims are behaving in such a manner which shows they have become extremely insolent.
