“How are hateful films like The Kerala Story 2 allowed to be screened ?” : Pinarayi Vijayan

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – The second part of the film ‘The Kerala Story’ is set to be released soon. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has asked in a post on ‘X’ how such divisive and hateful films are allowed to be screened. “The first film was deliberately made to spread anti-Kerala hatred and weaken the culture that respects all religions in the State,” he wrote. The first part of the film ‘The Kerala Story’ was released in the year 2022. It showed Hindu girls being tricked into participating in terrorist activities through ‘Love Jihad’. Even then, the film faced opposition. Now the second part is coming. The director of this part 2 film is Kamakhya Narayan Singh, and the producer is Vipul Shah.

Objections raised by Chief Minister Vijayan

1. It was the Sangh Parivar that took up and propagated the ridiculous, fake narrative of ‘The Kerala Story’. They are the ones who give communal tint to even consensual marriages, labelling them as forced conversion and spreading misinformation. (The entire Hindu community must stand against Vijayan, who is advancing his own agenda by speaking casually in this manner – Editor).

2. There have never been religious riots in Kerala, all sections of society respect each other here. (Who committed the Mopla riots and why ? What were the consequences ? Why doesn’t Vijayan speak about it ? – Editor) That is why some people are jealous of Kerala and try to disturb the peace in the State.

3. We must unitedly reject these attempts to portray Kerala as a hub of terrorism. Kerala is a State with religious harmony, steady progress is being made here and law and order is good. (The entire country knows the condition of Hindus in the Muslim-majority Mallapuram District – Editor).

4. It is the responsibility of each one of us to prove that Kerala’s secular foundation will not be shattered by fake propaganda. He appealed to respond to these false claims by strengthening the values of secularism and brotherhood.

Editorial Perspectives

‘The Kerala Story’ film depicted how Hindu girls are being cheated by Muslims and used in terrorist activities and how they are sexually exploited. When these facts, based on true events, are depicted in a movie, terrorist supporter Pinarayi Vijayan would obviously get irritated.

The Constitution has given freedom to everyone and there is a procedure for everything. If someone is making a film following the Constitution and that film receives permission, why should Pinarayi Vijayan get upset ?
