Muslim Personal Law Board Opposes ‘Vande Mataram’ : Warns to challenge in court

New Delhi – The Union Government has made it compulsory to recite all six stanzas  of ‘Vande Mataram’ song in the schools and Government programmes. The ‘All India Personal Law Board (Board)’ has opposed to this directive. The Board has claimed that the order issued by the Government in this context is illegal. This decision is against the religious freedom and secularism and violates the Supreme Court’s decision. (‘Vande Mataram’ is the national song. This song inspired the freedom fight of India. This song is a symbol of patriotism. The accusation of singing this song violates religious freedom, is totally incomprehensible. It will not be wrong to say that such stand has been taken out of Hindu-hatred of the Board. Editor)

According to the Board, there is a reference of worshipping Shri Durgadevi and other Deities which is directly against the monotheism advocated by Muslims since they worship only Allah. The Board has claimed on ‘X’ that earlier compulsion to sing such stanzas was banned by even courts in this country.

The Board has demanded immediate withdrawal of the Government’s order, warning to challenge it in court if not withdrawn.

Editorial Perspective

‘Vande Mataram’ made compulsory in Government programmes and schools creates displeasure among Muslims.
