Navi Mumbai — Venkatesh Bhoir, a Hindu youth from the Peth area of Kharghar, was subjected to a murderous attack by Muslims from Taloja and has been seriously injured. He has been admitted to the hospital. According to information shared with the media by local Hindutva-aligned activists, Muslims from Taloja have been attempting for the past few months to usurp land belonging to the Koli community in Kharghar. They allegedly dumped bovine meat at the site to intimidate residents. Harassed by this, all Koli families vacated the area; however, Venkatesh Koli’s family continued to live there. As a result, Muslims from Taloja repeatedly picked fights with them on one pretext or another. They had earlier threatened Venkatesh Koli’s mother with dire consequences. In fact, in the previous month, a murderous attack had been carried out on Koli by Muslims.

In the present incident, Muslims reportedly told Koli that rent was due for his tempo and called him to Taloja. When he reached there, around 25 Muslims allegedly attacked him with swords, choppers and sticks, local Hindutva-aligned activists told the media. They have demanded that the police ensure the accused do not go scot-free, just as attackers of cow protectors often do. Even last year, Muslims had created disputes against Venkatesh Koli!

According to Venkatesh Koli’s mother, even during Ram Navami last year, Muslims had created a dispute after Venkatesh testified against them. When they approached the police station in that matter, the police allegedly demanded ₹2.5 lakh. She stated that she had filed as many as 10 complaints against the Muslims, yet the police took no action against them. (Had the police acted against the Muslims earlier, these attacks might not have occurred today. This once again proves that corrupt police take Hindu complaints lightly and side with Muslims.
