In the 1971 war, the US had asked China to attack India, revelations show !

Truth revealed from confidential documents of then President Nixon

Washington (USA) — During the 1971 India–Pakistan war, then US President Richard Nixon had secretly contacted China to restrain India and save Pakistan. Not only that, Nixon had assured China that if it attacked India, the US would extend full support. This has emerged from the recently revealed confidential ‘Watergate Grand Jury’ documents. The document was so sensitive that it had been sealed and kept away even from government prosecutors.

These revelations indicate that had China attacked India at the behest of the US at that time, history would have taken a different course and even the map could have looked different.

What was Nixon’s own decision ?

The sealed documents contain Nixon’s recorded testimony. Nixon admitted that the then Soviet Union (Russia) was openly backing India, while Pakistan was facing a severe shortage of weapons. In such a situation, Nixon personally took the initiative to send a message to Beijing to provide moral support to Pakistan. He told China, “If you carry out military action against India, we will stand firmly behind you.” Nixon also clearly stated that the decision to provoke China was his personal one and that none of his ministers had advised him to do so.

Editorial Perspectives

  • This once again makes it clear that the US has never been India’s friend and has never been China’s enemy. Even today, the situation is no different. Therefore, India must always remain alert and cautious about the US !
  • It must also not be forgotten that during the same war, the US had sent its 7th Fleet of the Navy into the Indian Ocean against India. At that time, the US softened its stance only because Russia stood firmly with India !
