Accused of dereliction of duty

Mumbai – Twenty-three personnel have been suspended from the police force and two have been dismissed. These actions were taken for failing to carry out the responsibility of taking action against unauthorised hawkers despite being assigned the duty, remaining absent for long periods without explanation, and violating orders of senior officers. “Police personnel facing disciplinary breaches and criminal allegations will not be spared,” stated Police Commissioner Deven Bharti after the action was taken. The Commissioner also indicated that strict action will be taken against those who undermine discipline, efficiency and public trust.
The Suspension Review Committee reviewed the action taken against the suspended personnel and, finding it appropriate, has upheld their suspension.
