More than 12,000 Indians deported last year by Saudi Arabia

Washington (USA) – By December 2025, around 3800 Indians were deported from the USA while more than 12,000 Indians were sent back to India by Saudi Arabia. It  includes data of 3865 Indians from Indian commercial consulate at Jeddah, sent back to India. The above information was given by Mr Kirti Vardhan Singh, the Minster of State for External Affairs, in Parliament. The Congress MP Randeep Singh Surajewala had raised a query in Parliament on the data of Indians sent back to India from other countries in the last five years and the steps taken by the Central Government to stop migrations.

Countries expelling Indians

1. Myanmar deported 1591 Indians.

2. Malaysia deported 1485 Indians, United Arab Emirates deported 1469 Indians, Bahrain 764, Thailand 481, Cambodia 305  and from Canada, there were 188 Indians who were deported.

3. Many nations like UK, China, Australia, Qatar and other nations have also sent back Indians.

4. Various Indian commercial consulates in the USA deported Indians through consulates in its different States such as 47 from New York, 31 from Atlanta, 234 from Houston, 49 from San Francisco and 31 from Seattle.

Reasons for repatriation !

External Ministry has explained reasons for deportation. Many young Indians illegally go to another country through agents; when they are caught, they are immediately repatriated. Also, some people overstay their visa period or submit fake educational certificates or passports; are unable to get extension of visa once the time limit is over; go on tourist visa and start working there; get involved in criminal acts like theft, violence, drugs trafficking or other crimes; sometimes, owing to a dispute between workers and employers, or workers don’t get paid as per the contract and they stop working. In such a situation, they can be expelled if law is not followed.

Objection to send them back with shackles

A few  Indians were deported from the USA in a plane with shackles on. Kirti Vardhan Singh stated that, the Indian Government has been discussing the matter with America and other countries on the issue of expulsion. Before repatriation, documents of proofs about their being Indians are verified and the Indian Government is in continuous dialogue with the USA so that the deported Indians are well treated. We have expressed our concerns over the issue with the American officers. We have registered our objections especially regarding the method of sending women  and children among
the deported persons or keeping them under tight security.

Remedies to stop migration

Mr Kirti Vardhan Sigh stated that registration of agents has been made mandatory to avoid cheating and exploitation of Indians, wishing to go abroad for work. ‘Immigration Clearance’ is now mandatory for citizens going abroad for employment. There are 3505 names of agents who are not registered till December 2025 and their names have been declared on ‘eMigrate’ an App of external ministry. Indian workers are getting help through this platform for legal and secure migration.
