Actor Sunil Shetty’s Statement

Mumbai – ‘Why do we only talk about Aurangzeb, Akbar, Babur, Birbal? Our history should be about our culture. It should reflect the Vedas, Rajput kings, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and everyone else. Every state’s heroes should be discussed,’ actor Sunil Shetty said in an interview. Shetty further stated, ‘My feelings about the Somnath temple are extremely intense. Despite being looted multiple times, it still stands today.’
1. Actor Sunil Shetty played a role in the 2025 film ‘Kesari Veer,’ which was based on the repeated destruction of the Somnath temple in Gujarat; however, the film did not receive the expected response from audiences. While explaining why the film failed, Shetty expressed the above views.
2. Shetty further stated that he had conducted extensive research before making the film; unfortunately, the film did not succeed. Distribution proved to be a major challenge. Cinemas were not available, and the producers suffered significant losses because they themselves had taken on the responsibility of distribution, which proved ineffective. He remarked that a good film went to waste.
