Balrampur (Uttar Pradesh) — A Hindu youth, Bhupendra Pratap Chauhan, a resident of Pahlwara, has alleged that a Muslim woman named Rukhsar first trapped him in a romantic relationship and later held him captive, subjected him to physical torture, and forcibly converted him to Islam. It has also been claimed that he was circumcised as part of the conversion process. Based on the complaint filed by the victim, the Balrampur Kotwali Nagar police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

1. Victim Bhupendra Pratap Chauhan stated, “In 2019, I had gone to Dubai for work. In 2021, I came into contact with a woman named Rukhsar from Thalaindi village in Rae Bareli district. Rukhsar trapped me in a web of love.”

2. After returning from Dubai, Bhupendra went to meet Rukhsar at her house. She allegedly confined him in a room and did not allow him to step out for about a month. He was pressurised to accept Islam. Rukhsar’s uncle Pappu and her cousin Noor Ahmad also allegedly tortured him. In his complaint, Bhupendra claimed that his nails were pulled out and he was given electric shocks.

3. In 2022, he was allegedly forcibly circumcised. Subsequently, a Maulana was called and he was converted to Islam. Thereafter, he was married to Rukhsar and his name was also changed. Bhupendra stated that he made several attempts to escape but failed, and was repeatedly threatened with death if he tried to flee. Eventually, on January 30, 2026, he managed to escape successfully.

4. The victim has claimed that Rukhsar and her associates are part of an organised gang, which has carried out conversions of several individuals in a similar manner.

5. In Balrampur last year, the name of the Chhangur gang had surfaced, in which people going abroad were similarly trapped and forcibly converted. Action had been taken against Chhangur Baba in that case. This is now another such case that has come to light.
