We will not mediate to reduce tensions between India and Pakistan !

Russia clarifies its stand

Moscow (Russia) – Against the backdrop of rising tensions between India and Pakistan, Russia has clearly stated that it will not act as a mediator between the two countries. Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs was questioned on this issue, to which the Ministry clarified that Russia will not play a mediatory role in reducing tensions between India and Pakistan, or between Pakistan and Afghanistan. It further stated that if any of these countries were to make a request, Russia is always ready to extend all possible assistance to help resolve their differences. (Although Russia is diplomatically stating this at present, the truth is that if Pakistan were to approach Russia tomorrow requesting it to play a mediatory role for talks with India, Russia, considering the forthrightness of a friendly nation, would simply turn Pakistan away. – Editor)

India had categorically warned Pakistan that promoting terrorism on one hand and talking of dialogue on the other cannot go on simultaneously. Since then, Pakistan has been in search of a mediator to resolve the dispute.

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed to mediate; however, India has consistently rejected this claim.

Russia’s stand is now being viewed as political encouragement for India.
