Anti-women statement by Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, president of the extremist Bangladeshi party Jamaat-e-Islami

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – In the future, it is not possible for Jamaat-e-Islami to be led by a woman. This is a God-given arrangement. There is a fundamental difference between men and women. What Allah has created cannot be changed. A man can never give birth to a child or breastfeed, said Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, president of the extremist Bangladeshi party Jamaat-e-Islami, in an interview. In the elections to be held on 12th February, Jamaat-e-Islami has not fielded a single female candidate.

Many Muslim political parties even in India share this regressive mindset. That’s why women are never seen at the top pic.twitter.com/5yGf7ft05T

Rahman further stated that this decision is in line with Bangladesh’s culture and the present times. Other parties also do not have a large number of women, because the cultural structure here is such; however, he claimed that preparations are being made for this in the future. When reminded that Bangladesh has had female prime ministers, he said that most countries in the world have not considered this practical.
