The administration finally clears piles of documents from corridors of the Maharashtra Legislature building

The impact of ‘Sanatan Prabhat’s reporting !

Mumbai, 30 January – For many years, books and documents had been lying in the corridors on various floors of the Maharashtra Legislature building. These dust-covered materials have finally been removed by the Legislature administration. Arrangements have been made to store them in a warehouse. The chaotic management of documents inside the State administration’s main building had been highlighted by the daily ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ with photographs in its 18 July 2025 edition. The Legislature administration eventually took note of this and initiated efforts towards systematic management.

After the news was published in ‘Sanatan Prabhat’, the Legislature Secretary Jitendra Bholé had reacted by stating that documents should not be kept in corridors. For the past two months, work has been underway to classify documents and remove unnecessary papers from all floors and offices. In this regard, a senior administrative officer informed ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ that the Legislature Secretary had issued instructions to remove the documents in November 2025.

Earlier condition of the Legislature building

1. Some floors of the Legislature building were completely filled with documents.

2. Due to the lack of sufficient cupboards, piles of documents had been stacked on office       platforms.

3. In some offices, heaps of documents were lying even on the floor tiles.

4. Hundreds of books were piled up in the corridors outside the offices.

5. On some floors, stacks of books were kept in spaces outside the lifts.

6. Even corners of staircases had reached a similar state.

All these areas have now been cleared.
