America issues travel advisory for its citizens

Washington/Islamabad – The United States Department of State has updated its travel advisory for its citizens. In this advisory, it has warned that “crime, civil unrest, terrorism and the risk of kidnapping persist in Pakistan. Therefore, reconsider travel to Pakistan.” The advisory was updated on 26 January and includes several significant changes.
Pakistan placed in the third category among four risk levels of dangerous countries
Based on the threat of terrorist attacks, the United States has placed Pakistan in the third category, which denotes a high-risk level. This category indicates that terrorist attacks may occur at any time.
Certain areas of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan have been placed in the highest fourth risk category. American citizens have been clearly advised, “Do not travel to this area for any reason.” In this province, attempts at murder and kidnapping targeting government officials and civilians are common. The United States has stated that this warning also applies to American citizens of Pakistani origin.
Editorial PerspectiveThis is a slap in the face for Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, who try to sit on America’s lap. It can now be said that Pakistan, which seeks to out maneuver Bharat, has had its credibility crushed by none other than its self-interested friend, America. |
