Renovation of the Loh Temple in Lahore (Pakistan)

Lahore (Pakistan) – The Loh Temple, dedicated to one of  Shriram’s sons, located at the historical Lahore Fort in the Punjab province of Pakistan, has been fully restored and opened for the public. According to Hindu beliefs, Lahore is named after him.

1. Lahore Authority said, all work in the conservation of the Temple has been completed. Along with the Temple, two other monuments – the Sikh-era Hammam and Ath Dara Pavilion of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, have been fully restored and opened for the public in Lahore.

2. “The restoration initiative aims to celebrate Lahore Fort’s rich cross-cultural heritage, reflected in its Sikh and Hindu temples, Mughal mosques and structures from the British period,” WCLA spokesperson Tania Qureshi said and added extensive techniques have been employed as a part of the conservation process.

3. Last year, a Sikh researcher Dr Tarunjit Singh Butalia, identified some 100 monuments at the Lahore Fort maintained during the Sikh era (1799-1849), detailing its historical significance. Of them, around 30 monuments do not exist today.

Editorial Perspective

The Muslims of both India and Pakistan have not accepted the building in Ayodhya the Temple of Prabhu Shriram, who is Loh’s (Lava’s) father. Hence no one should be surprised if there is an attack on Loh’s Temple.
