Grand parade held on Kartavya Path in Delhi

New Delhi – India’s 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. As per tradition, President Droupadi Murmu unfurled the National Flag on Kartavya Path (formerly Rajpath) in Delhi, following which a ceremonial parade by the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force was held. An exhibition of various weapons and defence capabilities was also presented. This year’s theme for the parade was ‘Swatantrata ka Mantra – Vande Mataram’.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with several Union Ministers and other dignitaries, was present for the programme. India had invited European Union President Antonio Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen as special guests for the event, and both were present on the occasion. Tableaux from various States were showcased during the parade. Maharashtra’s tableau depicted the vibrant tradition of Ganeshotsav.
