Bengaluru (Karnataka) – “I will not speak against my country while visiting another nation,” Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar said. Responding to media questions regarding remarks like “Rahul Gandhi says India’s economy is not doing well,” he said that he is not aware of the circumstances or context in which Rahul Gandhi made those statements. Shivkumar clarified that no statements were made against the country; the comments were on internal administration.
“I won’t speak against my country abroad,” says D. K. Shivakumar, Karnataka Dy CM.
Good – but that’s basic patriotism, not a flex
Why say it at all? And will he now advise senior leaders of his own party who routinely tarnish India’s image overseas? pic.twitter.com/YnFBAMi3nq

“Economy does not mean internal administration, any ordinary person can understand that. Congress’s Shivkumar, dodging the main question, deserves some criticism,” remarked the editor.
Shivkumar further stated,
“I cannot criticize India for political purposes. Based on my modest political experience, I cannot go to any other country and create obstacles for my nation. We cannot belittle our country. First, we are Indians. I love my country and respect it. We all contribute to India’s development.”
Editorial PerspectiveExpected from any patriotic politician, yet why feel the need to declare it ? Rather than making such a statement, will Shivkumar, overflowing with love for the nation, instruct his senior party colleagues who tarnish the country’s dignity abroad ? |
