Raipur (Chhattisgarh) – Chhattisgarh Waqf Board Chairman Salim Raj alleged that the Congress only worked to turn Muslims into terrorists. According to Salim Raj, the Congress kept Muslims away from the unity of the country and associated them with suspicious activities. Salim Raj said that due to the inappropriate use of terms for terrorists by some leaders in the Congress, it was said that ‘the party supports terrorism’. According to Salim Raj, the BJP supports nationalism.
"Congress only used Muslims as a vote bank and pushed them toward terrorism," says Chhattisgarh Waqf Board Chairman Dr Salim Raj.

The national flag to be hoisted on mosques and madarasas on national festivals
Salim Raj clarified that the Chhattisgarh Waqf Board has decided that the tricolour will be hoisted and sweets will be distributed in mosques and madarasas in the State on the national festivals i.e. August 15th and January 26th. The board stated that this initiative would strengthen social harmony and also answer the allegations that ‘Muslims do not celebrate national festivals’. After some poor institutions expressed their inability to distribute sweets, the board announced to help them.
Financial assistance to poor organizations
Salim Raj said that a grant of Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 will be given to financially weaker institutions. This amount will be used for flag hoisting, distribution of sweets and organizing a small gathering. In this gathering, the importance of August 15th and January 26th will be discussed between students and sections of the society.
Salim Raj’s statement is offensive : T.S. Singh Deo
Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister T.S. Singh Deo, while reacting to Salim Raj’s allegations, said that flag hoisting is already being done in madarasas on August 15th and January 26th. There is no objection to the distribution of sweets; however, the allegations made against the Congress are unfortunate and objectionable. Terrorism is not related to any one party or Government. It is the result of the distorted mentality of some people, and it is not right to link it to Congress for own political gains.
There is no tradition of hoisting the national flag at religious places
T.S. Singh Deo further said that there is no tradition of hoisting the national flag at religious places like temples, mosques, gurudwaras, churches. (Does T.S. Singh Deo accept that anti-national Jihadi terrorism is carried out from mosques and madarasas ? If not, why has Congress not openly opposed it till now ? – Editor). However, the flag is hoisted on the occasion of national festivals in schools and institutions. In this context, it is inappropriate to link Salim Raj’s statement to the Congress party and to the discussion of Muslim terrorism.
