2.The group was being operated by handlers of ‘Babbar Khalsa International’ based in the United States. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the bomb was meant to be used to carry out a major terrorist attack targeting Republic Day programmes. While handlers based in the US were issuing instructions, Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) was supplying the explosives. The module had been set up to disrupt peace in Punjab and carry out targeted killings. Police are currently conducting an intensive interrogation of all four terrorists and are searching for their other accomplices.
