Statement by US President Donald Trump

Davos (Switzerland) – US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he is confident of a “good trade deal” with India, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a “fantastic leader” and a great friend”.
“I have great respect for your Prime Minister. He’s a fantastic man and a friend of mine. We are going to have a good deal,” Trump responded to a question during his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Due to the import tariffs imposed by Trump, trade between the United States and India has been affected. Negotiations are currently underway between the two countries to restore normal trade. Against this backdrop, Trump has avoided direct criticism of Prime Minister Modi. Instead, he has spoken positively about India and its leadership, emphasizing personal relations.
