Police claim the purpose as theft

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Fanatic Muslims killed a 28-year-old Hindu rickshaw driver at Daganbhuiyan in Chittagong district of Bangladesh. Samir Kumar Das was beaten up and stabbed to death. His rickshaw was also stolen. His dead body was found in front of the sub-district hospital. The Police have claimed that the purpose of the murder was theft.
1. The family of the dead informed that on 11.01.2026, Samir took out his rickshaw at 7.00 p.m. as usual. He did not return till late night; therefore, they started search for him. His dead body was found at 2.00 a.m. in a farm by the local people at Jagatpur.
2. Police suspected it as a pre-planned killing. Nobody has, however, been arrested so far.
Another Hindu murdered in Bangladesh’s Chittagong – police rush to brand it “theft.”
That’s 12 Hindu killings in one month.
When Muhammad Yunus claims this isn’t religious hatred, the state machinery follows – downplaying crimes and shielding Islamist fanaticism.

In a month, 12 Hindus killed
In the last one month, 12 Hindus have been killed in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Hindu Buddha Christian Unity Council (Council) has accused that there has been rise in the attacks on minorities since the last two weeks. There have been many incidents such as raping of a Hindu widow; looting of a Hindu’s jeweller shop; not allowing a Hindu election officer to do his job in Kurigram district, etc.
Hindus’ murders are not due to communal hatred – Muhammad Yunus
The Council has further alleged that though the interim Government led by Muhammad Yunus has condemned the killings of minorities, he is not ready to accept communal hatred as the cause of recurring incidents of murder and says that the rise in the number of dead is an exception.
