Police allegedly colluding with Muslims suspended

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) – Widespread outrage erupted after the remains of more than 100 bovines were discovered in a field near the Shri Durgadevi Temple in the Gadhnapur area. Activists of Hindu organisations rushed to the spot and strongly protested the incident. They demanded the immediate arrest of the landowner, Mohammad Shakir, and his accomplice. In connection with this incident, four police personnel, including the officer in charge of the police station, have been suspended.
1. According to media reports, on the night of 12 January, severed heads, bones, and hides of bovines were found scattered in a field near the Shri Durgadevi Temple.
2. Upon receiving information, activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal reached the site. They accused the landowner of cow slaughter and alleged active collusion by local police officials.
3. Police investigation revealed that the bovine remains had been concealed using tin-sheet fencing in a field adjacent to a burial ground.
4. After preliminary inquiry substantiated the allegations against the police personnel, Joint Commissioner of Police Ashutosh Kumar ordered immediate suspension of Bilhaur Police Station Inspector Ashok Kumar Saroj, Outpost In-charge Premveer Singh, Police Officer Aftab Alam, and Constable Dilip Gangwar.
5. “A criminal case has been registered in this matter and further investigation is underway”, Joint Commissioner Ashutosh Kumar stated.
