Train with many facilities, to be run between Jind and Sonipat

The country’s first hydrogen train equipped with numerous amenities!

Sonipat (Haryana) – India’s first hydrogen-powered train is set to run pilot-trials on the Jind-Sonepat route in Haryana. India will write a new chapter on the initiative to use green hydrogen power. A glimpse of this train has been shown through a video posted by Haryana’s Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on his social media account. In the video, he has stated that hydrogen-powered train is a matter of pride for Haryana and it will soon start its regular operations.

Noise-free and pollution-free journey

The special characteristic of this train is its soundless running and the sound-pollution will be almost nil. The train has been provided the most modern technology and has the capacity to carry about 2600 passengers in one round. The railway administration has reported that the project is in its final commissioning stages and the final pilot-trial will be conducted before start of its regular service. All technical issues, security and speed checking will be conducted in detail during the trial. The quality of air is being tested in a laboratory in Gurugram. Its final trial of running will be conducted only after all the tests and technological procedures are complete. The date of the pilot-run is yet to be decided.

The country’s first hydrogen train!

India, which will have hydrogen railways, is soon going to become the sixth country to have them. Germany was the first to introduce a hydrogen-powered train in this field in 2018. After that, China (2022), Japan (2022), Canada (2023), and the USA (2025) developed this technology and started operating hydrogen trains.

Speed and Capacity

Hydrogen train is capable of running at 110-140 km per hour; therefore, this train will not only be eco-friendly but it will also save travel time. Hydrogen trains will be operated in different parts across the country in the future as is the goal of the Government and Railway administration.
