New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani sends a letter to jihadi Umar Khalid imprisoned in India

New York (USA) – New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has written a letter to jihadi Umar Khalid, who is currently lodged in a prison in India. The letter read, “Dear Umar, I think of your words on bitterness often, and the importance of not letting it consume oneself. It was a pleasure to meet your parents. We are all thinking of you.”

Mamdani wrote this letter in his own handwriting. When Umar Khalid’s parents met Mamdani during their visit to the United States in December 2025, Mamdani handed the letter to them. Umar Khalid has been in prison since 2020 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Umar Khalid’s associate, Banojyotsna Lahiri, posted a photograph of this letter on X on the same day Zohran Mamdani took the oath as the Mayor of New York City.

Mamdani is an Indian-origin Muslim, and the fact that he sent a letter to a fellow jihadi clearly shows that he too is deeply imbued with a jihadi mindset !
