Dhaka (Bangladesh) – The Bangladesh Police claimed in a local court that the accused killers of Sharif Osman Hadi, a leader of the organisation Inqilab Moncho, have fled to India. Hadi was shot dead on 12 December. According to the Police, Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Sheikh carried out the murder and, with the help of locals, crossed into the Indian state of Meghalaya via the Haluaghat border. However, the Police could not specify the exact date on which the accused allegedly fled to India. India has categorically rejected this claim made by the Bangladesh Police.

Meghalaya’s Inspector General of the Border Security Force (BSF), O.P. Opadhyay, stated that Bangladesh’s claim is baseless and misleading. He said there is no evidence that anyone crossed the international border from the Haluaghat sector into Meghalaya. No such incident has been recorded, nor has any related report been received.
Editorial PerspectiveInstead of making false allegations against India, the Bangladesh Police should respond to the accusations that Hadi’s murder was orchestrated by Muhammad Yunus and Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence). |
