Bengaluru – The Municipal Corporation demolished more than 400 illegal huts and houses in Bengaluru of which majority belong to Muslims. This was followed by protest from the owners of the illegal structures. After this, they are protesting. Pinarayi Vijayan, the Chief Minister of the Communist Government in Kerala, criticized the Karnataka Government in this regard. Responding to the Chief Minister of Kerala; D.K. Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka said, “He publicly protested without getting complete information about the action taken on encroached land in Bengaluru. It is regrettable for experienced leaders to make such statements.”

Pinarayi Vijayan slammed the demolition as "bulldozer raj", alleging bias as most houses were Muslim-owned.

Deputy Chief Minister further said that the land that was cleared was actually a solid waste dumping site and this had created health hazards in the area. Those living there were also given the opportunity to settle elsewhere. Leaders who do not belong to the state should not interfere in these internal matters. Such unnecessary support leads to encroachment of government land by some groups and that cannot be tolerated. They later try to gain illegal control over government land; however, this will not be tolerated. Yet, Eligible beneficiaries among them shall be provided houses under the Rajiv Gandhi Yojana. However, no body will be allowed to grab public land.

The noteworthy news here is that illegal houses of Muslims were demolished by a Muslim-loving Congress government and a Chief Minister of a Muslim-loving Communist Government of another state immediately opposes this action.
