1. After the death of youth leader Sharif Usman Hadi in Bangladesh, there is a systematic violence against the Hindu community. The statement mentions that Hindu homes, shops and temples are being targeted.
2. 28% Hindu population in 1941 has now come down to just 7-8%. It has been accused that planned eradication of the Hindu community is happening in Bangladesh.
3. Demands have been made to the Indian Government for protection of religious freedom of minorities through India-Bangladesh agreements, follow-up of this matter through the United Nations and the Human Rights Commission, citizenship and rehabilitation policy for the affected Hindus, joint survey of temples and religious properties, arrangement for direct communication with the Hindu community in Bangladesh, etc.
4. The statement is submitted with the expectation that India, being the world’s largest Hindu-majority nation, would make efforts at the political, legal and international levels for the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh.
