Persecuted Bangladeshi Hindus request Indian Govt to open borders and allow their entry into India

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Hindus in Bangladesh have urged India to open its borders to protect them from violent Muslim mobs. The support received by Tariq Rahman, the leader of the hardline ‘Bangladesh Nationalist Party’, after he returned to Bangladesh after 18 years, has added to the fear among the minority.

The violence that erupted after the death of student leader Sharif Osman Hadi in Bangladesh is increasing day by day. A violent mob in Bangladesh killed two Hindu youths, Deepu Chandra Das and Amrit Mondal. Along with this, numerous incidents of arson and assaults are taking place at various places. According to the information given by the Chief Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, at a press conference, 2,900 incidents of targeting Hindus and minorities have taken place in Bangladesh in the past.

We are living with humiliation : Bangladeshi Hindus

An elderly man from Rangpur said that they have to face repeated insults because of their religious beliefs. Though this happens repeatedly, they cannot retaliate. Earlier they had to face taunts while walking on the road, now they have to face attacks. They are stuck and there is no way out. They are living with humiliation as they are afraid of ending up in a situation like Deepu Chandra Das and Amrit Mondal.

BNP is a party against minorities

The old man further said that they are helpless at present. They feel like fleeing to India; but the borders are heavily guarded. If BNP’s Rahman comes to power in the elections to be held in February, the situation may worsen; because BNP is considered a party against minorities (Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, etc.).

A person from Dhaka said that the killing of Deepu Chandra Das has created panic; but going beyond that, if former President Khaleda Zia’s son Tariq Rahman comes to power, the situation will be even more worrying. If the BNP comes to power, we may have to face more persecution. Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League party was our only saviour.

Indian Hindu organizations only talk but do nothing : Sanatan Jagran Manch

A Sanatan Jagran Manch activist said that there are 25 million Hindus in Bangladesh. This number is not small. Hindu organizations in India are doing nothing but only talking. We are standing on the brink of a major catastrophe.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Borders have to be opened for Bangladeshi Hindus, while Bangladeshi Muslims directly infiltrate and live here happily.
  • India was partitioned on the basis of religion and Pakistan was created for Muslims. Later Pakistan was partitioned and Bangladesh was created. There was a demand for population exchange during partition; but Gandhi, Nehru and Congress rejected it, which has led to the current situation. Hindus are being massacred in Pakistan and Bangladesh, while the population of Muslims in India is increasing day by day.
