Nagpur ( Maharashtra ) – In the teacher recruitment and salary system scam in the state, the Cyber Cell here has arrested Ravindra Katolkar, former Education Officer of the Nagpur Zilla Parishad. He has been charged with serious allegations of defrauding the Government of more than ₹12 crore. The court has remanded him to Police custody till 25 December 2025.

So far, the Special Investigation Team has arrested 26 people in this case, including the Deputy Director of Education, Education Officers, clerks, school headmasters, management representatives and teachers.

The accused misused the online salary system “Shalarth” without authorisation and created fake “Shalarth” IDs (Computer credentials) and drafts.

Salaries and other dues were withdrawn in the names of non-existent or fake teachers and non-teaching staff.
Through this process, the Government suffered a loss of ₹12.3 crore. Ravindra Katolkar served as Education Officer of the Nagpur Zilla Parishad during the period 2021 to 2022.

Despite being aware of fake student identity cards and fake teacher information at that time, he approved salary proposals without conducting any inquiry.

The investigation has revealed that he misused his official position for personal gain and defrauded the Government.
