Islamabad (Pakistan) – A video has surfaced in which Asim Munir, the Chief of Pakistan’s Army Staff, claimed that Allah helped the Pakistani army during ‘Operations Sindoor’ due to their faith in Allah. Munir made this claim at the ‘National Ulema and Mashaikh Conference’ held earlier this month. The conference was attended by several Islamic clerics and scholars, including Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Asim Munir is currently on a tour of Libya.

Munir compared Pakistan to the Islamic State established by Prophet Muhammad 1,400 years ago. He said that Pakistan has a special status in the Islamic world. There are 57 Islamic countries in the world; but Allah has given Pakistan the honour of protecting ‘Harmain Sharifain’ i.e. Mecca and Medina. Only an Islamic State has the right to declare Jihad in any Islamic country. No one can issue a fatwa (a ruling given by a recognized person or institution in Islam on a specific issue according to Islamic law) without the permission of the Government. He also claimed that people who came from Afghanistan are responsible for most of Pakistan’s internal problems.
Editorial PerspectiveDuring Operation Sindoor, Pakistan was on the verge of getting annihilated by India. Perhaps that is why Munir is saying, ‘Allah saved Pakistan from destruction.’ |
