Elephants damage houses in villages

Ramgarh (Jharkhand) – Five persons, including two women, were trampled to death in the past 24 hours in an attack by wild elephants at Sirka forest. The elephants entered even villages and damaged houses creating panic among locals. The Forest Department and District Administration have appealed people to be alert.
Two quick response teams and many forest guards have been deployed as per the information given by the Forest Department. These teams are patrolling the areas of the forest and nearby villages to prevent further untoward incidents. There are about 42 wild elephants in different herds roaming in the forest bordering Ramgarh and Bokaro districts as per the information shared by the Forest Department.

Mr Nitish Kumar, the regional forest officer stated that in the afternoon on 16.12.2025, a youth named Amit Kumar Rajwar went near a herd of eight wild elephants to take photos and record a video when the herd of elephants suddenly attacked and trampled him, killing him on the spot.
