Mahatma Gandhi’s name to be removed from the Act!

New Delhi – The Union Government is preparing to discontinue the MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act), which was enacted in 2005. In its place, a completely new bill is being introduced, titled “Viksit Bharat Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission (Rural) Bill, 2025” (VB – Jai Ramji Ki). This new law will also be aimed at providing rural employment. Congress MP Priyanka Vadra has opposed and criticized this move.
Priyanka Vadra has questioned the removal of Mahatma Gandhi’s name. Mahatma Gandhi is regarded as a great leader not only in the country but across the world. What is the objective behind removing the name of such a personality ? We are unable to understand the
Government’s intention in doing so.
