India’s exports to the US rise by 14.5% despite a 50% import duty !

Washington (USA) – Even though the United States imposed a 50% import duty on India in the month of August, India’s exports have still increased when comparing the two quarters from April to October 2025, according to information provided by the Ministry of Commerce. The ministry shared this information with the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce. This all-party committee has been formed to review the impact of the increased US import duty on India–US relations.

The Ministry of Commerce will submit a detailed written report to the Standing Committee within two weeks. Compared to previous months, India’s exports to the US in October saw a 14.5% increase. After the US imposed the duty against India on August 27, exports to the US dipped in September; however, the rise seen in October is being viewed as a positive sign for the country’s economic growth prospects.
