Students wearing the Ayyappa Swami mala sent out of the classroom by the principal

Incident in MES college in Karnataka

Chikkamagaluru (Karnataka) – Three students who came to the college wearing the Shabarimala Ayyappa Swami mala were sent out by the principal at the MES (Mysore Education Society) College here. Hindu organisations have expressed intense anger over this incident.

Leaders of a Hindu organisation went to the college and questioned the administration about sending out students wearing the Ayyappa Swami mala. At that time, the administration and the principal justified their action by claiming that the students had violated the uniform regulations. This led to an argument between the leaders of the Hindu organisation and the college administration.

Editorial Perspective

What harm did the college suffer because the students wore a mala around their neck ? In convent schools across the country, applying kumkum, wearing bangles, putting mehendi and similar practices are prohibited. Considering such incidents, a law must now be enacted in the country that treats opposition to the religious practices of Hindus as an offence !
