Senior official arrested in Tirupati Temple laddu prasad adulteration case

Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) – In the case of adulteration of laddu prasad of the famous Tirumala Tirupati Temple, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested a senior official of the temple management, R.S.S.V.R. Subramanyam. He was the General Manager (Purchase Department) at Tirupati from 2019 to 2024. During this period, hundreds of crores of rupees worth of materials like ghee, cashew nuts, cardamom were purchased under his jurisdiction. Therefore, his arrest made it clear that the laddu prasad scam was not limited to external suppliers only, but there was collusion within the temple management as well.

Investigating officials believe that such a large-scale adulteration would not have been possible without the involvement of some temple officials.

Editorial Perspective
