Statement of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Pakistan’s ‘Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam’
(Maulana us an Islamic scholar)

Islamabad (Pakistan) – Pakistan’s military leadership still tries to project a different image before the public; however, people understand the truth. It is because of the military’s interference in governance and policymaking that Pakistan’s democratic system has weakened. The country’s present economic and political downfall is the result of this very military intervention, said Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of Pakistan’s ‘Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam’.
Maulana Rehman further said that there is talk that Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir himself was involved in the terrorist attack at Pahalgam. To calm the rising anti-military sentiment in the country, he created a conflict with India. For some time, he was even successful; however, once again voices against the military are gaining strength in Pakistan.
It is shameful that 90,000 Pakistani soldiers surrendered before a single Hindu military officer ! – Maulana Rehman
Maulana further said, “Everyone knows the history. In 1971, more than 90,000 Pakistani soldiers had surrendered before a Hindu officer. The military’s contribution has been more in breaking Pakistan (in the creation of Bangladesh), not in strengthening the country”, he criticised. |
Editorial PerspectiveThis is yet another example of how Pakistan views India as a Hindu Rashtra. Yet India continues to remain secular. When will we realise that this is self-destructive ? |
