Construction of subways is underway to solve the problem of traffic congestion in Mumbai !

Chief Minister names subway scheme as ‘Patal Lok’ !

Mumbai – Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday announced that he has planned to construct a multi-directional tunnel to ease traffic congestion in the city. He was speaking at a session on ‘Youth Connect’ organised by ‘India’s International Movement to the Unite The Nation. This scheme of subways will be called ‘Patal Lok’.  He also said that this word  was used for ‘underground world’ in a Hindi web series.

Fadnavis further said that through this scheme, we will create an extensive network of tunnels in Mumbai. This network will act as a shadow network parallel to the existing main roads. At present, tunnel work is going on at Thane-Borivali and Mulund-Goregaon. It will improve East-West connectivity.

On this occasion, Fadnavis spoke on following points

1. The Coastal road between Mumbai South and Bhayander will serve as an alternative obstruction free route to ‘the Western Express Highway’. About 60 per cent of Mumbai’s commuters depend on the Western Expressway. Unless it is cleared, the traffic problem will not be solved.

2. At present, work is going on on many underground projects. The parallel road between Borivali-Goregaon and the Worli-Sewri connector, expected next year, will provide seamless travel from Atal Setu to Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

3. The tunnel connecting Atal Setu to Girgaum Chowpatty and passing through the ‘Eastern Express Highway’ will be completed in 3 years. This will provide great relief from the current traffic jams. The proposed tunnel between Bandra and BKC will improve access to the airport. The airport can be reached from South Mumbai in just 20 minutes.

Editorial Perspective

According to the science of Spirituality, the powers of words, forms, taste, smell and touch exist altogether. Accordingly, everyone feels that it would be more appropriate if this scheme is given another name instead of ‘Patal Lok’.
