Fiasco of the Khalistan referendum in Canada: Only 6 per cent of Sikhs took part !

Protesters shout ‘Kill Prime Minister Modi’ during the event !

Ottawa (Canada) – At the recent G-20 Summit held in South Africa, the heads of India and Canada met and concluded historic trade agreements. However, even as diplomatic engagement progressed, Khalistani extremists in Canada intensified their Pakistan-supported efforts to separate Punjab from India through a so-called referendum.

During an event organised in Ottawa on 23 November, India’s national flag was insulted, and shocking slogans of ‘Kill Prime Minister Modi’ were raised against the Prime Minister and government officials. Despite heavy funding and mobilisation attempts, only 6 per cent of Sikh citizens turned up – a fact admitted by the Khalistani extremists themselves.

  1. A ‘Khalistan Referendum’ was held, asking the question: ‘Should Punjab be separated from India to form a new independent country called Khalistan ?’
  2. Supporters holding yellow Khalistan flags formed a queue nearly 2 kilometres long from morning to evening.
  3. The event was organised by the Khalistani terrorist outfit ‘Sikhs for Justice’.
  4. The organisers claimed that more than 53,000 Sikhs had arrived from Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec. Ironically, this figure constitutes only 6 per cent of Canada’s total Sikh population.
  5. Terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun addressed the assembled Khalistani supporters virtually from the United States.
  6. The Government of India declared this event illegal and stated that it was an attack on India’s sovereignty.

Editorial Perspective

The Pakistan-supported attempt to separate Punjab from India through Khalistan is collapsing in Canada. Despite offering money, only 6 per cent of Sikhs participated, which itself exposes the failure of this anti-India campaign!
