1.The Police stated that, judging by the quality of the seized weapons and the scale of the network, it is clear that this was a well-organised smuggling group with substantial funding. This network operated from Pakistan. The weapons were first transported from Türkiye and China to Pakistan, after which they were dropped in Punjab using drones. From there, with the help of smugglers in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, the weapons were moved into Delhi and neighbouring States. They were then supplied to gangs led by Lawrence Bishnoi, Bambhia, Gogi and Himanshu.
2.The arrested accused are residents of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Their names are Mandeep, Ajay, Dalvinder and Rohan. The Police are investigating how many times weapons were previously sent into India and to which gangs they were sold.
Editorial PerspectiveIf this is the seized quantity, what must be the scale of pistols that remain untraced ? And can the Police provide any real guarantee that fresh consignments will not reach India in future ? |
