Kathmandu (Nepal) – In Nepal, Gen Z youths have once again taken to the streets. They reignited their protests in opposition to the fact that Mahesh Basnet, a leader of the Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist–Leninist), had supported former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli during the earlier demonstrations. A massive protest was recently held outside Semra Airport. The atmosphere in the area is tense.

Leaders of the Nepal Communist Party, Shankar Paudel and Mahesh Basnet, were scheduled to visit Bara District to attend a political program. As soon as the youths learned this, they gathered in large numbers to protest against them. They surrounded Semra Airport. Within no time, the number of protesters grew uncontrollably, escalating the situation. Following this, airport security was tightened.

Realizing that the situation was getting out of control, District Magistrate Dharmendra Kumar Mishra immediately ordered the imposition of a curfew. A complete curfew was enforced in and around Semra Airport from 12:30 PM to 8 PM. All flights during this period were cancelled, causing significant inconvenience to passengers.

The administration is currently keeping a close watch on the situation in Bara District.
