Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) – Raja Ram Mohan Roy was a British agent. He acted as a ‘dalal’ (broker) for the British. Not only that, but he also initiated practices such as religious conversion in India. If anyone dared to oppose Raja Ram Mohan Roy, it was Birsa Munda, claimed Madhya Pradesh’s Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar. He was speaking at a programme organised on the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda.
Religious conversions of Hindus under the guise of missionary education !
Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar further said that during the British era, missionary schools were prevalent, and conversions were carried out through these institutions. Under the name of education, children were converted. Birsa Munda recognised this early and showed the courage to stand against the British for the sake of his community. Birsa Munda wished to pursue education; however, at that time, only missionary schools existed. While studying there, he realised that conversions were being promoted under the pretext of education. Consequently, Birsa Munda left the missionary school. Thereafter, he dedicated his life to social service and fought against British rule.
Congress criticises Parmar !
Congress spokesperson Bhupendra Gupta condemned Parmar’s remarks, saying, “Raja Ram Mohan Roy was a social reformer. He played a crucial role in abolishing the practice of Sati. Was this an act of being a British agent? Those who were truly aligned with the British in that era are the ones criticising Raja Ram Mohan Roy today.”
These are Parmar’s personal views; the party is not connected to them ! – BJP
The statement made by Parmar regarding Raja Ram Mohan Roy reflects his personal views and has no relation to the party. The BJP has always respected social reformers who contributed to the nation. Congress has deliberately misinterpreted Parmar’s remarks, clarified Shivam Shukla, BJP spokesperson for Madhya Pradesh.
Editorial PerspectiveThis claim must be thoroughly investigated and the true history presented before the nation. If Parmar’s statement is proven true, then action must be taken against those who have projected a false history till now! |
