British Maulana booked for collecting foreign funds for madarasa

Accused of financial misconduct and misuse of foreign currency

Sant Kabir Nagar (Uttar Pradesh) – An FIR has been registered against Shamsul Huda Khan, a British citizen and Islamic scholar, on charges of financial irregularities and violation of foreign exchange regulations. The allegation states that despite holding British citizenship, he was drawing salary from the Uttar Pradesh Madarsa Education Board while operating a madarasa on locally allotted land.

According to the complaint filed by District Minority Welfare Officer Pravin Kumar Mishra, under the direction of the Madarsa Education Council’s registering authority, Khan is accused of obtaining funds from foreign individuals and organizations for the madarasa and allegedly taking a commission from these transactions.

Promoting Islamisation in India through NGOs and madarasa

The investigation also mentions Khan’s association with two organisations — ‘Kuliatul Banatir Razabia Educational and Welfare Society’ , ‘Raza Foundation’ and  madarasa in Khalilabad. It has been alleged that he used these platforms to facilitate foreign donations. Authorities further noted that despite being a British citizen Khan travelled abroad frequently to promote Islamisation activities in India.

Following the inquiry, the Education Department has decided derecognition of the concerned madarasa and associated institutions. Officials have stated that there is a need to register a case and take legal action legal action as per the findings of the investigation.
