BJP spokesperson demands ban on film ‘The Taj Story’!

Claims the movie is based on his petition asserting that the Taj Mahal was once a Hindu temple !

New Delhi – Rajneesh Singh, BJP leader and spokesperson from Ayodhya, has filed a written complaint with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) demanding a ban on the upcoming film ‘The Taj Story.’ He alleges that the movie is based on a petition he had filed in the Allahabad High Court, claiming the Taj Mahal was originally a Hindu temple.

In 2022, Rajneesh Singh had petitioned the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court seeking to open the 22 locked rooms inside the Taj Mahal, claiming that they contained evidence of a pre-existing temple structure. He had also demanded the formation of an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) committee to conduct a detailed investigation. However, the High Court dismissed the plea in May 2022.

No permission was taken from me !

In his letter to the Central Government and the CBFC, Singh stated, “I have come to know that the film ‘The Taj Story’ is based on my court petition. The posters, promotional material, and storyline all claim that the film draws from the case I filed. This assertion is misleading and violates my intellectual and legal rights. Moreover, no consent was sought from me prior to the film’s production,” he alleged.

The film could trigger religious tension

Singh further warned that the release of such a movie could not only influence ongoing judicial processes but also provoke social and religious unrest.
