Two technicians and a Medical Officer suspended

Pimpri (Pune) – A shocking incident has come to light from the Bhosari Hospital under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), where employees from the X-ray department were found having a liquor party inside the hospital premises. A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing the staff consuming alcohol while on duty. This has raised serious concerns about patient safety, as intoxicated employees were reportedly handling medical tasks. Patients have alleged that such activities have been going on for quite some time, with senior medical officials turning a blind eye.
1. Bhosari Hospital is one of PCMC’s 8 civic hospitals, with a capacity of 100 beds, and handles a large number of patients every day.
2. In the video circulating on social media, X-ray department staff can be seen drinking alcohol, with empty liquor bottles also visible in the footage.
3. To keep patients and their relatives unaware, the employees reportedly lock the door before consuming alcohol.
Speaking about the incident, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Laxman Gophane said,
“It is extremely serious that such acts are occurring inside a hospital. 2 X-ray technicians and a medical officer from the hospital have been suspended. Instructions have also been issued to all security guards across municipal hospitals to maintain strict vigilance.”
Editorial PerspectiveThe public strongly believes that merely suspending staff who drink alcohol while on duty is not enough; criminal charges should be filed, they should be dismissed from service, and exemplary punishment should be imposed ! |
