Washington (USA) – India has not expressed concern over the growing ties between the US and Pakistan; however, they may be concerned; because there is historical tension between India and Pakistan; but they also understand that we have to maintain relations with various countries, said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Trump has consistently tried to strengthen ties with Pakistan during his second term. He has met Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir twice so far. Pakistan has officially nominated Trump for the Nobel prize. Trump has also met Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif at the White House. When asked about this, Rubio gave the above answer.
Our relations with India are deep, historic and important
Rubio further said that we are looking at an opportunity to strengthen our strategic relationship with Pakistan. Our job is to find ways to work with many countries on common interests. Indians are very mature in terms of diplomacy. Look, they have relationships with some countries that we don’t have relationships with. So, this is an example of a pragmatic and mature foreign policy. I don’t think that what we are doing with Pakistan will have any impact on our relationship or friendship with India. Our relationship with India is deep, historic and important.
