Ban RSS shakhas in Karnataka : Priyank Kharge, Congress Minister

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Priyank Kharge has written to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah demanding a ban on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) shakhas and other activities organised in public places.

Priyank Kharge alleged that the RSS shakhas are organised in Government and semi-Government schools, public grounds, temples, parks and places under the jurisdiction of the Archaeological Survey of India. In these shakhas, aggressive demonstration of stick-wielding techniques are shown without the permission of the Police and this is having a negative impact on children and youth. (At many places, fanatic Muslims use swords and petrol bombs. Why doesn’t Kharge speak about them ? – Editor).

For the sake of the children and youth of the State, and for the mental health of society, all activities of the RSS in Government places should be banned, Kharge demanded. (Has Kharge ever dared to see what is taught in mosques and madarasas ? – Editor)

Attempt to ban RSS shakhas is condemnable : HJS

In a Pressnote, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) strongly condemned Priyank Kharge’s letter to the Chief Minister. The RSS is a respected organisation, which is at the forefront in providing relief during natural disasters and crises through its volunteers across the country. In 2024, the Union Government declared the RSS a social organisation and lifted the decades-old ban on Government employees participating in its activities.

Editorial Perspectives

Priyank Kharge is making a fool of himself through this demand for the sake of cheap publicity. Clearly, he speaks without even understanding the tasks accomplished by the RSS or due to sheer hatred for the RSS.

The State’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar had earlier praised the RSS for its mission of social integration.  Why doesn’t Kharge talk about it ?
