Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The Congress-led Karnataka Government has made it mandatory for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and private organisations to obtain permission before holding events on government land. Minister Priyank Kharge had written to the Chief Minister demanding that RSS activities in public spaces be restricted. However, following strong opposition from Hindus and BJP leaders, who questioned whether Muslims offering namaz in public places would also be required to seek permission, Kharge was compelled to respond.
Reacting to the criticism, Priyank Kharge stated, “The law is equal for everyone. If Muslims want to offer namaz in government grounds, they too will have to obtain permission.”
Editorial PerspectiveThe RSS or other Hindu organisations hold very few public programmes; yet every Friday, Muslims have been offering namaz in public places without permission. Why has the Congress Government never acted against them so far ? And even now, will it truly have the courage to take action ? |
