Doctors accused of selling the patient’s organs without informing the family !

  • Case of death of an elderly patient in Ahilyanagar due to wrong treatment

  • Court orders registration of an offence against six reputed doctors in the city

Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra – An elderly patient admitted to a hospital here was falsely declared Covid-positive and administered wrong treatment, which led to his death. After his death, his organs were sold and the evidence destroyed. Following the order of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar bench of the High Court, a case has now been registered at the Tofkhana Police Station against six reputed modern doctors from Ahilyanagar, along with unidentified hospital staff.

Complainant Ashok Khokarale’s father, Babanrao Khokarale, was suffering from a sore throat on 13 August 2020. He was admitted to Dr Pandule’s Covid centre at Patiala House for treatment. Although his medical reports were normal, he was shifted to ‘Nucleus Hospital’ run by Dr Bahurupi and Dr Borkar without informing his son.

From ‘Nucleus Hospital’, the patient telephoned his sons, Ashok and Arvind, pleading, “These people will kill me. They tie me to the bed and draw blood several times. Please take me away from here.” When the complainants tried to visit their father, they were denied access.

The hospital demanded a payment of ₹1.84 lakh. After paying the amount, the complainant searched for his father’s body at ‘Civil Hospital’, ‘Amardham’, and ‘Nucleus Hospital’, but could not find it anywhere.
The complainant approached the High Court, submitting reports that the doctors had acted with misconduct, negligence, and carelessness. On 18 October, the High Court ordered registration of an offence against the concerned doctors and staff.

Cases have been registered against modern doctors Gopal Bahurupi, Dr Sudhir Borkar, Dr Sachin Pandule, Dr Akshaydeep Zaware, and Dr Mukund Tandale, along with a laboratory technician and other unidentified employees.

Editorial Perspective

An incident that disgraces humanity ! Despite their high education, such doctors acted with selfishness and moral depravity. Only the harshest punishment for them will serve as a deterrent for others.
