London, UK – The Peterborough City Council in Eastern England has decided to sell the building of the Bharat Hindu Samaj Temple, the only recognized Hindu temple in the region. This decision has put the temple at risk of closure.
1. The temple was established in 1984 in the New England Complex. It serves as the only temple for approximately 13,500 Hindus living across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, and Lincolnshire.
2. Temple president Kishor Ladva stated that the temple is not only a place of worship but also an important community center. It provides meals twice a week for senior citizens, conducts workshops on dementia and diabetes, and offers dance, yoga, and language classes in Hindi and Gujarati.
3. To protect the temple, a signature campaign has been launched, with thousands already signing in support. Various community groups have come forward to help save this temple.
