Russian Deputy Prime Minister responds to Trump’s statement that ‘India would not buy oil from Russia’

Moscow (Russia) – Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has reacted to US President Donald Trump’s statement on India’s oil purchases from Russia. He said, “We continue to cooperate with our friendly partners. Our energy resources are in demand. It is economically feasible and viable. We’re only seeing signals in the press today that our partners are declaring that no one can dictate to them, and that they will choose their own path. This is the foundation of our relations”.
Donald Trump recently stated that “India will no longer buy oil from Russia”.

Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov said that energy relations between India and Russia are in line with India’s national interests. Overall trade relations between the two countries are getting stronger. The Indian government is approaching this issue keeping in mind its national interests. Alipov also clarified that Russian oil accounts for about one-third of India’s total oil imports.
